Straight-line winds in Giles County Saturday afternoon caused a 6 hour power outage after a tree fell and tore down power lines on McGrew Street that left WKSR off the air.

The tree was in front of WKSR's tower where Pulaski Electric crews worked on replacing lines from 1:00 p.m. until 7 p.m.

University of Tennessee football game against South Carolina could not be heard on the radio due to the outage.

According to Kirby Parr, PES Chief Operating Officer, they had 11 scattered outages on Saturday that affected almost 950 customers.

Parr said they had multiple tree issues and two broke poles due to high winds.

The largest outage was down the Minor Hill Highway that affected about 780 customers.

The officer said they had a tree tear down a line on McGrew St, which was their longest outage and affected about 50 customers including the radio tower.

More heavy rain and damaging winds are in the forecast this week on Wednesday and Thursday.

Heavy rain will be the main issue on Wednesday with more rain to come Thursday. Some rainfall amounts could be 2 to 3 inches for both days.

The strongest storms will move in Halloween morning with threats of damaging wind and heavy rain.
