With a light frost over the weekend livestock producers in Giles County should be aware of potential prussic acid poisoning.

Prussic acid poisoning is the result of some warm season grasses such as Johnson grass and Sudan grass hybrids releasing a form of cyanide due to plant tissues being ruptured under frost conditions.

Livestock should be removed from any field affected by the frost.
