Employees of the automotive components manufacturer Magna will lose their benefits with the company at the end of the month.

A message sent to employees on Monday states that due to the UAW’s strike of General Motors, employees will be moved from its strike insurance coverage to a company sponsored COBRA benefits package for the month of October.

Coverage will be temporary interrupted as employees sign on with Basic, Magna’s third-party administrator for COBRA benefits, the company told employees on Monday.

Employees say their medication coverage ceased a day before the strike began last month.

Magna’s operation is at a standstill due to the strike and the vast majority of employees are currently out of work.

Magna employs about 300 workers at its 122,500-square-foot operation, where it builds components for vehicles assembled at the neighboring General Motors plant.
