The Campbellsville Heritage Festival begins tomorrow (Saturday) spearheaded by the Campbellsville Area Association.

 The day will begin with  Run the Rolling hills Cross Country 5K and Kids Fun Run. Registration will begin at 8 a.m.

A new addition this year to the Fun Run and 5K event is a 5-Mile Run. 

According to CAA member Rosemary Martin, they added a five mile race along with a separate kids area with many different arts, crafts and games.

CAA members will also be collecting heirloom family recipes connected to the Campbellsville area that will be compiled in a cookbook to be sold at next year’s festival and events.

The day of entertainment and exhibitions begins at 11 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m.

 The Giles County Honor Guard and Scout Troops will be presenting colors and activities will include historical re-enactors from the Civil War, early Native American and settlement periods.

Exhibits will include Campbellsville High School memorabilia and photographs, a presentation by a representative of Pulaski’s Trail of Tears Museum, arts and crafts displays and in honor of the area’s link to Scottish heritage, a traditional bagpiper.

 Food and merchant vendors will be on site and a sweets walk will also be held during the day.  Other activities include a skillet and hammer throw, points of interest in Campbellsville and entertainment will be provided by local artists.
