The Ardmore Board of Mayor and Alderman passed a proposed $1.1 million budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2019.

A public hearing about the 2019-2020 budget was held prior to the regular meeting and no comments were made by those in attendance.

A motion was approved to include a 4% raise for Officers Mason Daniels and Beavers; a 4% raise for the dispatcher and a 2.5% raise for Chief of Police Jimmy Kennedy.

The board also approved to have two new street lights installed on Main Street, saying the lights will benefit three businesses in the area.  Mayor Mike Magnusson also asked that one be installed on Austin Whitt Road near the Smith Avenue intersection.

Aldermen Spencer Smith, Jason Sherman and Shane Emerson were appointed to a Park Committee by the Mayor to act as an advisory board for the park director. The board will develop a job description for Tim Turner and work with him to make recommendations for park improvements.

Alderman approved that Thomas Combs continue his development of  the youth football program .

The vote was unanimous on a bid for $9,500 in rock and sand for the volleyball court.

In closing, the Board agreed to changed July meeting to July 11th at 6:30 p.m. since the first Thursday  falls on July 4th.
