Various department reports were voted on and unanimously approved without questions during today's  (Monday) Giles County Commission meeting.

The commissioners voted to amend 2018-2019 budgets for County General Fund 101, Drug Fund 122, Highway Fund 131, General Purpose Fund 141 and Food Service Budget.

Giles County Executive Melissa Green was given the approval to sign a proposal with Tennessee Department of Transportation on Highway 31 South project and to also request balance of accounts remitted to State Treasurer under Unclaimed Property Act.

Commissioners  authorized approval of surety bond for Leonard Benjamin Jackson, Soil Conversation District Supervisor.

Janice Curtis, Giles County Trustee,  explained  the $17,595,839.00 Tax Aggregate balance was  taken from taxes collected in the county, property filed in Chancery Court, releases and double assessments form assessor of property, bankruptcy taxes retained by Trustee, and 2017 allocation errors.

Notary duties for six people from Giles County were renewed and six new notaries were appointed.

Commissioner Roger Reedy asked the commissioners to approve a Bodenham Community Club project  to pour concrete plus lay sewer pipes on top of an old pad on the Bodenham property.

Reedy said the club  takes care of the property and will pay for all expenses.

Commissioners approved unanimously for the go ahead of this project.

Also, commissioners were in favor to move the Old Record's Department from third to second floor because elevators in the court house do not go to the third floor.

The three year Marine training contract at the Agri-Park was also approved.
