The Giles County Agri Park Committee has recommended a lease for a military readiness group to use the park on a limited basis.

A private contractor who works with the United States Marines approached the county about using the Agri Park for a few days a year for a training site.

No live ammunition would be used in the training, in which Marines would practice helicopter landings under simulated gunfire.

The contractor asked for a five-year contract and use of the park by Marines up to three days a year.

By contracting to make the park available, the county could get paid, even if the Marines don’t use the site.

While the Agri Park is on county land, the site is in the Pulaski city limits, and the contractor plans to approach city officials about a memorandum of understanding for the site.
