Giles County gas price average today is $2.94, which is a penny more than last Monday, 23 cents more expensive than last month, but only nine cents more than a year ago.

According to AAA, the national gas price average today is $2.98, which is four cents more than last Monday, 19 cents more expensive than last month and eight cents more than a year ago.

With a four-cent jump on the week, today’s  gas price average sets a new high for the year at $2.98. This average may only be seven cents more than a year ago, but it is nearly 20 cents more than a month ago and 63-cents more expensive than at the beginning of the year.

 There are only six states in the nation with averages below $2.60 (Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, South Carolina and Missouri).

According to a AAA  spokesman, Americans can expect the national average to likely surpass 2018’s high of $2.97 set during Memorial Day weekend.
