Goodwill will host several free events in Columbia to celebrate Goodwill Week — May 5-11 — including a job fair and workshops for job-seekers.

Activities planned this year at the Career Solutions Center at 405 S. James Cambpell Blvd. in Columbia include:

Tuesday, May 7: A Job and Community Resource Fair from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., featuring Goodwill, American Home Design, Progressive Directions, Embassy Suites of Cool Springs, CoreCivic, Legends Steakhouse and others. More than 100 positions will be available, and pay rates reach $19 per hour.

Wednesday, May 8: Job Readiness Workshop, 9 a.m.-noon; Interviewing Skills Workshop, 1-3 p.m.

Thursday, May 9: Basic Computer & Online Job Search Workshop, 9-11 a.m.; Resume Basics & Writing Skills Workshop, noon-2 p.m.

While the U.S. unemployment rate has hit record lows in recent months, many people still struggle with poverty, homelessness and lack of access to good-paying jobs. Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee’s mission is changing lives through education, training and employment.
