Five candidates have been interviewed for the  new director of the Pulaski/Giles County Economic Development Commission recently vacated by Beth Thompson Shockney.

Approximately 60 applications were received from around the country, with four finalists from Giles County and the other from a different location in Tennessee.

Bobby Wynne of the EDC's Personnel Committee said all applicants were very qualified.

According to Wynne, a special meeting of the Giles County Economic Development Commission may be required to approve the new director.

The EDC board is seeking someone to direct the organization that supports the retention and expansion of existing Giles County businesses and attracts new ones.

Pulaski Mayor Pat Ford, interim EDC director, said in an earlier meeting that he is not a candidate for the position.

Board members also discussed releasing money from the City of Pulaski, Giles County, and Pulaski Electric allocated for the specific EDC expenses when the work is done and when money is expended.
