A Richland High School senior has received an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Kendall Mitchell, valedictorian of the 2019 senior class, is a young woman on a mission.

She said her objective is to attend a service academy and become a commissioned officer. I will be a good soldier who proudly serves the United States.

According to Micah Landers, principal at Richland School, Kendall is independent and extremely motivated to do  her best. I have all the confidence in the world that Kendall's success will be limitless.

While at Richland she has received several academic awards and been active in several school clubs and in sports.

Kendall joins two former Richland graduates who was appointed to a service academy.  Brandy Butler is a graduate of West Point  and Jonathan Chunn  graduated from the US Naval Academy.
