Richland School was one of more than 125 high schools participating in Columbia State Community College’s annual High School Competition.

The competition involved students from 11 southern Middle Tennessee high schools competing in 18 different academic areas, including creative writing, vocal performance, algebra and sociology.

Winners in the competition from Richland were;

Emin Krimigilu receiving first place in Algebra II  and second place in Trigonometry.

Impromptu Poetry first place went to  Abril Chavez.

Nolan Robertson accepted second place in American History. 

According to Daniel Kelley, Columbia State associate professor of English, this year’s High School Competition was a huge success.

Dating back to the 1980s, the competition continues to focus on humanities disciplines and has since added math components.
