Giles County Extension Office is highlighting  the Tennessee Registered Judging School for Fairs and Festivals as part of  the University of Tennessee Family and Consumer Science program during UT Extension Month.

The judging school is one way of the ways UT is touching lives through its mission of research, teaching and extension.

Candidates attending the school will be able to choose three of six subjects covering baked goods, canning, drying and fermenting, crafts, fine arts, needlework and sewing.

According to Myra Walker, FCS agent in Giles County, it is a unique opportunity for people interested in learning more about judging  competitive exhibits at local fairs and festivals.

The school will be held at the UT Extension office in Rutherford County May 22 and classes begins at 10 a.m.  Cost of the workshop  is $20, which includes lunch and a judging manual.

Pre-registration is required for the classes and can be made by calling Giles Extension office at 363-3523.
