A Maury County man is being held in the Giles County Jail on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

According to Sheriff Kyle Helton, Mustafa Malik Slater, 22, is being held for  Maury County authorities on a courtesy hold, which  means that another jail has a hold/warrant on that individual.

Slater was arrested by the Columbia Police Department for the attempted murder of Kevin Euguen Hill, 41 at 113 Granada Drive in Columbia.

Officers found Hill lying in the middle of the drive with at least one gunshot wound, according to a report from the department.

Slater  was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault last week following an investigation by the department.

Bond was set at $750,000 on both charges.
