Giles County Road Superintendent Barry Hyatt said  roads throughout Giles County were damaged due to the flooding last week.

The storms accounted for an estimated 13.1 inches of rain across the area, which was responsible for flooding many roadways in Giles and Lawrence counties.

Travelers are cautioned to drive safely because a good bit of the debris is left on the roadways, but the highway department continues to clear roads. At times large equipment may be used and Hyatt reminds drivers to use caution when coming upon cleaning crews.

Tuesday afternoon the Tennessee Department Of Transportation reported that highway 273, the Prospect-Elkton rd, has been repaired.

If you know of a road that has debris or is blocked, call the highway department at 363-1635 or 363-7023.
