Giles County Schools were closed again today (Friday) due to current flooding and impending weather.

From the National Weather Service, a Flash Flood warning has been issued today (Friday) for Giles County and surrounding areas.

Roads that are flooded in the county today (Friday) are Veto Road at bridge, Horne Hill, Weakley Creek at Ham Creek Road, Big Dry Creek, Minnow Branch, Gunter Smith, Old Campbellsville, Annie Wade, Dixontown, Jack Holt, Locke, Water Smith, Alsup Hollow, Clear Creek Circle at spillway and Sugar Creek Road.

County authorities are investigating High Water signs being removed from roads plus mail boxes being torn down in the Anthony Hill area.

According to the Giles County Highway department, stealing a high water sign is very dangerous for drivers and costly to the department.

Periods of more heavy rain will arrive Friday evening lasting through the overnight and beginning the day Saturday. Widespread flooding is likely again Saturday and it could be as intense as what we saw Wednesday morning.

Timeline for the greatest concern for storms will be from 6 p.m. til midnight Saturday.  Winds will be breezy before the storms with gusts from the south at 15 to 35 mph.

If the severe storms move through with high winds the county expects to see numerous reports of downed trees and power outages, which could be enhanced due to soft grounds from the recent rainfall.

Once this front clears out by Sunday, the county will  welcome in a dry few days.
