Giles County School Board unanimously tabled a program designed to help local home school students during the February meeting at Richland Elementary School.

After further investigation School Director Phillip Wright said he has some reservations about using Tech Trep Academy for homeschool distance learning.

The program is designed to work with home school students while allowing the students to be counted as part of the school district for funding and account ability.

Tech Trip Academy offers free-tuition and personalized distance learning for home school students. For the parents in charge of their home schooler's education, the academy offers a variety of resources and curriculum that meet the state standards.

Wright recently told board members each home school student not counted in the Giles County School system costs the district approximately $7,000.
