Data from the U.S. Census Bureau show the Spring Hill and Thompson's Station communities in Tennessee have the highest growth in the state, based on five year estimates.

The census area south of Nashville grew by 6,190 people since the last data release in 2012. Other fast growing areas include Murfreesboro, Chattanooga, Clarksville and Collierville.

Local U.S. Census Bureau partner the Tennessee State Data Center, located at the University of Tennessee, analyzed the data to find the fastest growing areas in Tennessee. The metro Nashville area has 12 of the 20 fastest growing census areas. Of the 90 areas showing declines, 29 were in rural areas and 28 were in the metro Memphis area.
