According to authorities, A man accused of trying to kill Limestone County sheriff’s deputies is facing more charges, including possession of a homemade bomb.


Ronnie Tyler Gwynn Parker is being held in the Limestone County jail with bail set at $735,000. Parker is accused of firing shots at multiple deputies, taking women hostage and setting a home on fire.


Deputies were dispatched October 21st to investigate a report of a stolen vehicle from Piney Chapel Road. A deputy began chasing the vehicle on Alabama 127. Parker pulled a .380-caliber pistol and fired at deputies, who returned fire. No injuries were reported in the incident. At some point, Parker rammed a patrol vehicle also. Later, the stolen vehicle was found abandoned in a pasture.


Deputies then learned that Parker had picked up his girlfriend and forced her to come along after he stole the vehicle. After abandoning the vehicle, Parker took his girlfriend and an elderly resident hostage. Parker released the elderly woman after setting fire to the home.


A device found in the stolen vehicle that day has since been identified as a “homemade improvised explosive device,” authorities say.


Parker is charged with, five counts of attempted murder, two counts of kidnapping, arson, theft, shooting into an occupied vehicle, criminal mischief and possession of a homemade explosive device. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
