The Alabama Ethics Commission confirmed Wednesday that Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely is being investigated for a possible ethics violation.

Tuesday the commission voted 4-0 to send a case about Blakely to the Alabama Attorney General’s Office.

The vote shows the commission believes there is evidence to indicate Blakely broke a state ethics law.

In response to the charge Sheriff Blakely said he says he “respectfully disagrees” with the ethics commission and believes he will be vindicated. He declined further comment and deferred to his attorney, saying his focus is on winning the election in November.
