State wildlife officers are investigating a boating accident in Perry County that happened Saturday when a craft struck a large oak tree, injuring the boat's two occupants.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officials said on the agency's Facebook page that the 2002 18-foot Ebbtide pleasure boat, operated by 48-year-old Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, resident Windall Sanders, was northbound on the river when it crashed into the tree around 8:30 pm Saturday.

Sanders' and his passenger, 47-year-old Kimberly Sanders, of Jackson, also were both seriously injured, officials said.

The accident is still under investigation.
