An order issued today by the state is prohibiting the ride that failed at the Ohio State Fair from operating in Tennessee.

A swinging ride called The Fire Ball broke apart mid-flight Wednesday night at the Ohio State Fair, sending terrified riders tumbling nearly two stories to the ground and killing one.

Amusements of America, which operated the ride at the Ohio State Fair, is scheduled to provide rides at the Giles County Fair. Some concerns have been expressed locally.

Robert Brindley Jr., co-chair of the Pulaski Lions Club Fair, said he has spoken with officials of Amusements of America, and the company will still provide rides for the Giles County Fair as well as for the Wilson County Fair in August. Brindley said he believes this will be the safest fair Giles County has ever had because of the tragedy in Ohio.

Brindley said the company believes the Fire Ball ride has a defect. There are only twelve Fire Ball rides that were made and all twelve are now quarantined, he said.

The state's order will remain in effect until further notice.
