Area Unemployment Decreases

After a January in which every county saw a joblessness increase, Giles and the surrounding counties showed unemployment decreases in February.   Giles County’s unemployment dropped from 6.6 to 5.8 percent. Lawrence County Man Convicted of Raping a Child

A Mt. Pleasant man has been found guilty of raping a child.   Richard Bryant Long, a 36-year-old resident of Chatman Road in Mt. Pleasant, was convicted March 17.
