William Earl “Corky” Wakefield, 87 died June 15th, 2024. A lifelong resident of Giles County, Tennessee, He was born the Frankewing, worked at First National Bank-Pulaski, Sharp Motor Company, and was the owner of Wakefield Oil, a Gulf Oil distributor. He was also Giles County Executive for twenty years, served in the Tennessee Air National Guard, was a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Frankewing, member of the Rotary Club, a supporter of the Boy Scouts, member of Pulaski Masonic Lodge #101 F. & A. M., served on the South Central Tennessee Development Board, Hillside Hospital Board, and the Duck River Development Board, and was a longtime member of Pulaski First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two children, Sara Reese and husband, Phil, of Pulaski, and Gid Wakefield and wife, Leslie, of Montgomery, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, brother, Carl Wakefield, along with several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at First United Methodist Church in Pulaski beginning at 12pm Tuesday, June 18th.

Memorial services will be at 3pm.

Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Pulaski First United Methodist Church, 200 West Jefferson Street, Pulaski, TN 38478, or the Giles County Public Library, 122 South Second Street, Pulaski, TN 38478.
