Oakerlene Cardin Corpier of Pulaski died Dec. 1 at NHC in Pulaski. She was born in the Bunker Hill community and was 89 years old.

She was an outstanding basketball player at Giles County High and was recognized as an All-State Forward and Guard. Throughout her working years she was employed at Genesco as a personnel secretary for 40 years until the plant closed, then at Stanley Tools, and finally retiring from Pulaski Elementary as the bookkeeper and secretary for more than 25 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Corpier; parents, P.D. and Flossie Cardin ; four sisters-in-law and six brothers-in-law.

Visitation will be held Monday, 5-7 p.m. at Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Stevenson of First United Methodist Church of Pulaski and Tony Boyles of Wooley Springs Baptist Church in Toney officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

She is survived by daughter, Debbie Corpier Benson and husband Gene of Ardmore; sister, Bettye Cardin Ingram of Pulaski; sister-in-law, Ruth Whitt Hartman and husband Don of Ardmore; 2 grandsons; 1 great-grandson; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
