James Herbert “Herby” Long, 58, departed this life on December 10, 2021.  He was born May 2, 1963 in Pulaski, TN. He was in the graduating class of 1982, at Richland High School, was a meat cutter at Joy Foods, in Pulaski and Piggly Wiggly in Pulaski and Columbia for a total of 17 1/2 years, loved the outdoors and listening to country music.  James fought many battles with cancer for 28 years. He lived every day of his life to the fullest, joked with everyone he came into contact with and his smile will never be forgotten. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Minnie Long, one sister, Emma Mae Long, one brother, Frankie Gene Long.

 

Visitation will be Monday December 13, 2021 from 4-8pm at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home. Funeral will 11am Tuesday December 14, 2021 at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home with burial in the Long Family Cemetery.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.

 

He is survived by one son, James Brandon Long and girlfriend Jessica Fry, one stepson Eric Wayne Norris and wife Tasha, two brothers, Richard Long and wife Judy, Donald Long and wife Sherry, one sister Connie Kirk and husband Kevin all of Pulaski, grandchildren, Lilli Long, Levi, Kathlene, Langston, Brayden Norris all of Pulaski, lifelong friends Wayne Minatra and wife Carrol of Pulaski, best friends Dan Ratz and Kim McCellen of Pulaski, two aunts Mary Long and Margaret Rainey from Athens, AL. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
