Ben N. Hurt of Murfreesboro, formerly of Pulaski, died Sunday. He born in Nashville and was 84 years old.

Hurt spent most of his childhood in Pulaski. He is 1952 graduate of Giles County High School, where he played football and basketball. He was a 1957 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, where he
starred as an offensive guard and was captain of the 1956 OVC Championship team for Coach Charles Murphy and later was the head football coach from 1975 to 1978.

He also coached in the Texas high school football system, at the University of Houston, and was offensive coordinator at Texas A&M University.

Visitation will be held 4-6 p.m., Wednesday at Woodfin's Funeral Home, where a memorial services will follow at 6 PM.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Blue Raider Athletic Association at Middle Tennessee State University, MTSU Box 576, Murfreesboro, Tennessee 37132.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Hurt; sons, Ross Hurt and wife Lori and Greg Hurt of Murfreesboro; brother, John Hurt; sister Peggy Stewrt; and two grandchildren.
