Laton C. Newton, age 84, died on Saturday, March 7, 2020. He was born in Pulaski, TN on March 11, 1935 to the late Littie Newton Carpenter. He was a Beech Hill High School graduate and a dedicated member of the New Zion Baptist Church. Also, he retired as an Army Veteran, a machinist at Cosmolab, and a farmer. Laton was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Lester Newton and Richard Carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce H. Newton of Pulaski, TN, his son, James Terry Newton and wife Tammy of Pulaski, TN, his daughter, Laura Newton Jean and husband Donald of Kelso, TN, his sister, Barbara Parsons and husband Edward of Pulaski, TN, his step-sisters, Willadean Gordon of Pulaski, TN, and Betty Jo Watts of Pulaski, TN, his grandchildren, Nathaniel Hillis of Mcburg, TN, Jeremey Hillis and wife Cassie of Mcburg, TN, and Dakota Newton and wife Rita of Lawrenceburg, TN, his great grandchildren, Sophie Newton of Pulaski, TN, Jackson Newton of Pulaski, TN, Gus Newton of Lawrenceburg, TN, Riley Hillis of Mcburg, TN, Jónsi Newton of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Eleanor Newton of Lawrenceburg, TN, his special friend, Gary Elder aka “Cowboy”, and his brother, Henry Carpenter.

The Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the Masonic Funeral Rites to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home with the burial to following in New Zion Cemetery.
