Mrs. Willa Mae Holley Greene, age 95, was born on May 13, 1924, and died on Thursday, December 26, 2019. She was the daughter to the late Louis and Velna Whitworth Holley. She has gone to be with her sisters Deloris Holland, Martha Womack Delaney, and Elwyona Lanier, whom she has dearly missed. Also passing away before her were her two brothers, Carl Holley and Jerry Holley, two son-in-laws, Captain John Dunnavant and David Wells Sr., and her beloved husband, Charles (Dude) Greene. Mrs. Greene had 50 years with her husband and very few days after WWII did she spend away from him.

 

She is survived by her youngest sibling, Brother Ronnie Holley and wife Barbara, and one sister-in-law, which she was very close to, JonLou Holley. She is also survived by her children, Sandra Kay Wells and friend Jerry, Charles and Cassie Greene, Beverly and John Murrey, and Kathy Young and husband Roy.

 

She is survived by her grandchildren, David Wells, Rhonda Wells, Stacy Young and Brad Young, Rachel Dunnavant Weatherly, Lyndsey Dunnavant Howell, and Sara Katherine Murry Pierce, and many great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

 

Mrs. Greene was the cafeteria manager of the Campbellsville School. She started the first breakfast program for the students that she knew were coming to school hungry, she never allowed any student to go without eating lunch. She was also the first manager of the Richland School cafeteria.

 

Mrs. Greene loved to finger stitch and quilt, she made some of the most beautiful quilts throughout her life.

 

Mrs. Greene loved all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she hated to leave them.

 

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home with the burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
