George Wynne Newman, of Elkton died Wednesday. He was a retired Merchant and Farmer and 76 years old. He has been a member of Elkton Baptist Church since 1972. He also served as president of the Giles County Historical Society.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Lynn "Sherry" Simmons of Elkton, his son, George Newman, Jr. of Elkton, his brother, Joseph McConnell Newman of Ardmore, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held Monday, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Elkton Baptist Church, where Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Bethany Cemetery.
