Floyd Dayton Word, age 87, died on Thursday, at his home.

He was born in Lauderdale County and was retired from TVA and Gabriel, and a member of, Booth Chapel Church of Christ,  

Visitation will begin at 10 AM on Saturday at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home, until 12 noon with the funeral service to follow at noon, burial to follow in Minor Hill Cemetery, with full military honors.

Survivors include his wife Lenora Word of Minor Hill, one daughter, Phyllis Smith and husband Tom of Leoma, two brothers, Travis Word of Anderson, and Frank Word of Rogersville, four sisters, Dottie Chumbley and Sue Strickland of Pulaski, Judy Jackson and Nela Norton both of Smyrna, four grandchildren also survive.
