The smell of natural gas was detected Sunday morning in the area of West Woodring and Morris streets and was reported to 9-1-1 by a resident of the area, who thought the smell was coming from his home.

But it was coming from the street, which is why the smell was so strong, said Pulaski Natural Gas Supervisor Buddy Busby.

Busby said a small leak was discovered underneath the pavement near the intersection of the two streets in North Pulaski.

Another reason the smell was strong in the area just before lunch Sunday is because natural gas is light and is easily dissipated in the air.

The leak was repaired Monday, Busby said, without further incident.
