Dewayne Jones is the new District 4 Commissioner after today's vote at the Giles County Commission meeting.

With 20 commissioners present, the vote was a tie until Giles County Executive Janet Vanzant cast the deciding vote for Jones.

Jones will complete the unexpired term of Tim Turner, who vacated the seat in March.

The commission also approved to renew Paul Allen Jr. as the Green Belt representative to the Giles County Economic Development Commission and renewed the one-year terms as a Judicial Commissioner for Dean Glossup, Hattie McCoy, Randy Keene and Edward Durant.

All new applications and those to renew their notaries public-at-large status were approved.
