The third Saturday in June is a special time in Bell Buckle, as it holds the country’s biggest celebration of an iconic Southern duo…RC Cola and MoonPies.

The annual RC Cola-MoonPie Festival is hosted by the Bell Buckle Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the South’s original fast food, an RC Cola and a MoonPie.

The origins of the combination stem for a request at a Chattanooga Bakery.  The story starts in the 1910s with a Kentucky coal miner. Legend has it the unnamed coal miner asked a Chattanooga Bakery traveling salesman for a snack “as big as the moon” that contained graham crackers and marshmallows. The rest, the bakery says, is history.

The festival now celebrates the iconic duo, and has turned into a huge event.

The 2024 RC Cola-MoonPie Festival is set for this Saturday, June 15th, from 7am until 5pm in downtown Bell Buckle.
