An Athens woman was killed as the result of a single vehicle accident Thursday in Elkmont.

Amber Lynn Lankster died in a pedestrian crash on Alabama 99 near Sugar Way after being struck by a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Jason G. Elrod, 36, of Elkmont.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Amber Lynn Lankster was the pedestrian struck Thursday evening and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No further information is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
