North Alabama is a hot spot for people moving into the Tennessee Valley. In 2023, Limestone and Madison County ranked as two of the fastest-growing counties in Alabama according to U.S. Census data.

Madison County is now Alabama’s second-largest county by population and ranks third in the state for growth rate.

The growth is not limited to Madison County though, Limestone County is Alabama’s fastest-growing county, and the county seat, Athens, is seeing new development, businesses, restaurants and homes.

The area is currently seeing a business explosion due to several factors, and, according to local authorities, will continue to grow into the foreseeable future.
