The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department is now accepting applications for its Citizen’s Police Academy.

The Academy looks at daily operations of the sheriff’s department, the judicial system, K-9 units, drug investigations, criminal investigations, patrol, police safety and neighborhood watch programs.

Space is limited to 25 participants.  Applications must be submitted to the sheriff’s department by April 30.

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be a part of the Academy…Be 18 years of age, a resident of Lawrence County, have a valid driver’s license, have no pending criminal charges or misdemeanor arrests within the past six months, and no prior felony arrests.

The Academy is offered free of charge.

The first class will be at 6pm, Monday, May 6th.
