A new bill is looking to expand Amber Alerts in the state of Tennessee.

The bill, Senate Bill 1929/House Bill 2223, was introduced to send more alerts about missing children, and is moving forward through the General Assembly.

The bill, as introduced, creates an Amber+ Alert system for the purpose of issuing alerts with respect to certain youth who are reported missing under unexplained or suspicious circumstances, reported missing and at risk of harm, or reported missing and developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired.

Next up, the bill is up for discussion by the Senate Judiciary Committee. It’s also been assigned to the Criminal Justice Subcommittee.
