Governor Bill Lee is touting an expansion of school vouchers.

According to the governor’s office, he’s proposing $141.5 million to establish the education freedom scholarships.

The premise behind Education Freedom, and the one thing that most all of us all do agree upon, is that parents know what’s best for their child’s education. There are thousands of parents in this state who know their student would thrive in a different setting, but the financial barrier is simply too high.

Governor Lee’s state of the state speech was met with applause from fellow lawmakers as he tried making the case for vouchers, and other legislation in Tennessee.

There was, as always opposition also, so the proposal in still a work in progress.
