A letter was sent to the City of Franklin notifying officials that nearly 600 immigrants being released from the Department of Homeland Security had declared they wanted to make the Volunteer State their home.

The notice means that immigrants held in DHS custody said they wanted to live in Nashville, Franklin, Davidson County or Murfreesboro when they were released. The immigrants set for release have been vetted and are in the process of legally obtaining citizenship.

This is the first declaration of this number immigrants for the Middle Tennessee area.
