911 operators in Maury County managed to help a couple through childbirth over the phone early Saturday.

According to the Maury County Fire Department, units responded to a report of a child birth in progress Saturday, January 27th.

Officials said the couple knew they couldn’t make it to the hospital, so they pulled over at Maury County Fire Station 7 at the intersection of Bear Creek Pike and U.S. Route 431.

Dispatchers reportedly provided instructions and talked the couple through the process before deputies and first responders arrived. When units did get to the fire station, they found a healthy baby and mother, both of whom were taken to the hospital by Maury Regional EMS.

The baby’s father, Jonathon Todd, later said that his wife and his newborn son, named Duke James Todd are perfectly healthy and already back home.

Proud Dad said “We wanted to thank the first responders, the 911 operator, and above all else, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Without Him, this wouldn’t have happened smoothly… God bless.”
