County Executive Melissa Greene was authorized by the county commission’s Property Committee to find an engineer or company to survey security needs and improving fire protection for the Giles County Courthouse and Courthouse Annex.

Meeting latest security requirements would be goals of an engineering survey of both buildings.

Plenty of companies and engineers could do this kind of work, Greene said.

During a recent strategic planning session for county commissioners, Greene alluded to silent alarm buttons at desks as a possible security improvement.

She also touched on fire protection as a need at the Courthouse where many public records are retained.
