The Town of Lynnville has a new mayor after a recent town meeting.

Following the resignation of previous Lynnville Mayor Philip Vandiver, Vice Mayor Floyd Pratt has moved into the mayor’s position.

Vandiver gave up his position when he moved outside Lynnville to Mt. Pleasant.

Alderman Paul Dugger will replace Pratt as Vice Mayor, who was also sworn into office by Lynnville’s attorney, Chris Williams.

William Morse was also sworn in to fill another board vacancy.

A request was approved to allow the Giles County Highway Department to work inside the city limits, if requested in 2020.

Wamble Heating and Cooling was reimbursed for work done in the installation of a heating and cooling unit at the municipal building. The floor needs to be cut so six vents underneath can be properly linked to the unit.

Officials from incorporated municipalities in Giles County will be asked to take more of a role in making sure Lynnville residents get counted in the 2020 federal census.

It was told to the mayor and Alderman that filling out the census forms is important because it affects the amount of aid city government can receive from state and federal governments.
