A strong line of storms Monday night were to blame for damage to homes and businesses in the region .

In Giles County, several power outages were reported in the area along with numerous trees downed by strong winds.  

Also, several homes and barns throughout the county sustained roof damage.

It was reported straight line winds caused damage to the Milky Farm's fence on Highway 31 North.

The storms generated a number of cloud to ground lightning strikes which resulted in some electronic damage and power outages to parts of Lawrence County.

Authorities reported that there were no injuries in Giles County due to the Monday night storms.

The storms prompted forecasters to issue multiple tornado watches and warnings over a span of several hours.

Forecasters said tornadoes, hail and winds blowing at 70 mph posed the greatest threat when a cold front moved across the region in an easterly direction.

Strong storms and tornados killed at least two people in Northern Alabama and several people were taken to area hospitals.

Monday was the 19th anniversary of a Southeastern tornado which produced a twister that killed 11 people in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
