Giles County Acting Director Vickie Beard and Executive Melissa Greene presented an Energy Systems Group document to the School Board Thursday on recommendation for schools improvement project.

In an earlier meeting this year, the board authorized Beard and Greene to meet with ESG and produce a document.

During the work session, board members reviewed a document that was divided into 2 phases.

Phase 1 included renovation of Giles County High School , HVA at Richland and removing pipes at Bridgeforth Middle School.
According to Beard, this phase would cost an estimate of 10.4 million dollars.

Second phase will include all other schools at a cost of 4.3 million dollars.

Greene told the board, commissioners had not seen the document and sure there would be lots of discussion. "You need to make a decision first on this project before commissioners can vote," Greene told the board.

Greene said this is a community project and students come first.

ESG representative said the key is what the school board wants to recommend to the county school committee because everything is needed.

The board agreed to review and select a project when they meet on December 5th.

In earlier discussion, ESG reps estimated Phase 1 if approved could be completed by the end of summer 2020.
