Policies on the first and second reading were placed on the December 5th agenda of the Giles County School Board during a work session Thursday evening.

First reading policies to update were School District Records, Basic Program/Class Size Ratios, Student Records and Compensation Guides and Contracts.

Second reading policies included Unmanned Aircraft/drones, Interscholastic Athletics, Code of Conduct, Textbook selection, distribution, and care.

An earlier motion will be removed from the table during the monthly meeting in December and added back to the agenda concerning how long to keep bus videos for reviewing.

School  Board Attorney Tim Underwood suggested 10 days to the board.

The budget amendments were not discussed during the session.

At the end of the work session, Board member Joe Parker, from District 3, addressed the board about reviewing and discussing Acting Director Vickie Beard's contract and make her Director of Giles County Schools.

Parker filed a motion to add this recommendation to the next monthly meeting and the board agreed.
