Plans for Elkton to purchase approximately 30 trash carts for residents were tabled by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.

Board members had voted earlier this year to purchase the carts, for which there is enough money in the budget, but Mayor Jimmy Dean Caldwell asked that the purchase be reconsidered so the city might adjust the purchase to take advantage of other discounts.

Caldwelll said he does not know if they  want to spend that amount of money for 30 trash cans. “Just because we have the money does not mean we have to spend it.”

The topic was tabled and will be brought back for discussion at a later date.
