The Giles County Board of Education is considering a proposal from HFR Design to perform an Americans With Disabilities Act assessment for all schools in the county.

During a work session, Acting Director of Schools Vickie Beard said the fee range for the school system’s assessment is $75,000-$100,000.

The ADA assessment is required of all county government agencies and HFR Design is the same company which recently completed the same ADA assessment in Giles County.

County Executive Melissa Greene told the board that the county has been very satisfied with HFR Design’s work.

The assessment is an unfunded mandate for the school system.

The school board will meet in regular session Thursday evening and other agenda items to be discussed will be budget amendments including the Transportation Supervisor’s salary schedule and equity, student needs, school bus purchase proposal and capital projects.

The board will hear second reading on Line and Staff Relations, Out of State Students, General Fixed Assets, Service Animals and Insurance Management policies

First reading polices that will be heard are Unmanned Aircraft/Drones, Interscholastic Athletics, Bus Conduct and Code of Conduct.

Consider a lighting project at Richland School athletic fields and sealed bids for the disposition of a storage shed at Pulaski Elementary School.

Consider allowing Richland School to add to its baseball building. The addition will be paid for with money saved by the Richland Baseball team from fund-raising.
