The City of Ardmore received a financial report that showed the city had $91,530 of revenues in September.

The top three numbers were from the local sales tax with $41,905, the local beer tax, $15,018, and the state sales tax $7,942.

During the meeting, Mayor Mike Magnusson said the city will not apply to be in a program to extend sidewalks on State Highway 7. “We will not get the necessary paperwork to apply for the program on time,” said Magnusson.

He addressed that next year there are going to be two categories for small cities and large cities and thinks the city will stand a better chance. Applicants for the grants are evaluated and those with the best scores receive the grants, a process which the mayor said does not always favor cities such as Ardmore.

The board also discussed, but took no action on cleaning a drainage ditch near King’s Hardware on Main Street. “I’d like to see this problem corrected, but I don’t want to put the city in liability,” Alderman Garon Hargrove said.

Dealing with water that would be draining onto private property is part of the issue, and some aldermen said the problem extended to the Tennessee Alabama state line where drainage also might affect the runoff near King’s Hardware.

The board agreed any work done by or on behalf of the city can be done on public but not on private property.
