City of Minor Hill was awarded a $137,460 grant to purchase a brush truck that will answer emergency calls.

The Community Development Block Grant was awarded through the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development with funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

According to City Recorder, they applied for the grant last year and were turned down, so we reapplied in 2019.

Mayor Tracy Brown said the brush truck will be another city fire truck and will replace an older truck.

“To get the brush truck, the city will need to come up with a matching amount of money, which is approximately 17 percent or $21,000,” Brownlow said.

State Rep. Clay Doggett, R-Pulaski, from the 70th District, and 28th District State Sen Joey Hensley, R-Hohenwald, supported the application, submitted with help from the South Central Tennessee Development District.

“We are currently taking donations and will greatly be appreciated by the Minor Hill Fire Department,” Brownlow said.
